6 Colonial Doors to Make an Entrance

Posted: 29 Oct, 2015

Cartagena’s beautifully detailed and intricate doors unlock secrets to Cartagena’s colonial past, whereby doors functioned as visual symbols of a family’s social status.

Door knockers, often in the shape of mythical and wild creatures, would announce the homeowners profession and social standing in the community to passersby.

Although their hierarchal value has been lost, their show stopping beauty certainly hasn’t faded.

This is Cartagena’s photographer, Natalia Perez captures the artistic value you can’t fit into a selfie-stick shot.

Enjoy!
